Virtual Digitiser is an AutoCAD bolt on package which makes estimating from drawings simple. E-mailed or drawings on disk (line drawings or full working drawings) can be displayed using AutoCAD, then it is a quick three steps to take off the drawing....

Step 1 - Select Fitting

Choose the fitting required from the Virtual Digitiser toolbar. In this case a Straight.

Click on the PIPE icon to select a Straight

Step 2- Check Dimensions
Enter the required section dimensions, e.g 600x400.
Check that the dimensions are correct

Step 3 - Takeoff drawing
Choose the start, bend and end points for the Straight
Now, click on the start of the duct run, pointed to by point (1).
Then follow the duct run right to the end - point (4) - clicking on the various bend points along the way - points (2) and (3).
Finally, click on the end of the duct run at point (4).
Notice that the lines drawn are coloured and that an item identifier is drawn too.

Then you just repeat the process until everything has been taken-off.

Choose a 90 Degree Square Bend Check the dimensions Click on the drawing where the 90 Bends are positioned. Here, at points (5) and (6)
Choose the 90 Degree Bend Set it's dimensions And click where they are on the job
These automatically get the next available item identifiers, in this case 2 & 3.

The process continues until everything has been taken off.
The whole takeoff is saved on a different layer to the drawing.
REMEMBER - when linked to QuoteMaster the takeoff is calculated automatically so you can produce an instant Bill of Quantities, Schedule of Rates or any other of the informative QuoteMaster reports.
Your clients will see the financial benefits too - no more bulky drawings to be copied and posted out, they can either e-mail or post the drawings on disk or CD - how much will they save?
